I am reading the absolutely fabulous book -
Don't Think of an Elephant: Progressive Values and the Framing Wars a Progressive Guide to Action (hereinafter DTE), by
George Lakoff. In the introduction (by Don Hazen of Alternet.org), it is suggested that every person buy 10 copies to distribute to their friends. I think this is a great idea that the netroots needs to take to heart.
I propose that a coalition of progressive organizations and the netroots join together to buy thousands of copies of this book to distribute widely to progressive activists, democratic and independent policymakers, and the interested public.
At
Cody Books, DTE is available for $8.00. A good start would be 10,000 copies, which would cost 80,000 dollars. That's a lot of money, but not a ton when we consider the power of online organizing and the groups who would like to raise their profile and support the progressive movement: Center for American Progress? MoveOn.org? Democracy for America? perhaps even the New Democrat Network?
How do we make this work?
